Elizabeth Quay is Perth's premier waterfront precinct, opened in 2016 along a scenic inlet of the Swan River in the heart of the CBD. A one-hectare public park, interactive fountains, striking public art, ferry services and a concentrated strip of bars, restaurants and boutiques make it the city's most-visited public space and the natural starting point for exploring Perth by water.

The precinct's public art trail is a highlight in its own right. First Contact by Tjyllyungoo (Lance Chadd) is a powerful carved wooden installation commemorating the Whadjuk Noongar peoples' first encounter with European settlers. The soaring steel sculpture Spanda by Christian de Vietri has become an icon of the Perth skyline, catching light dramatically at dawn and dusk.

The BHP Water Park and ocean-themed playground make the quay a natural family destination, while the jetty is the departure point for ferries across to South Perth and the Perth Zoo. River cruise operators also depart from here for trips to Fremantle and the Swan Valley.

In summer the precinct hosts a weekly free programme of live music, outdoor cinema and family entertainment. The waterfront restaurants range from casual fish and chips to award-winning fine dining.
