Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks
Turquoise calm on a wild coast
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Tucked inside William Bay National Park about 15 kilometres west of Denmark, Greens Pool is one of Australia's most photographed swimming spots. A natural arc of granite boulders shelters an impossibly clear turquoise lagoon from the full force of the Southern Ocean, creating a safe place to swim even when conditions outside are rough. A short coastal path links the pool to the nearby Elephant Rocks formation.
The granite outcrops at Elephant Rocks rise from the sea like a herd of grey giants wading ashore, their smooth rounded forms shaped by thousands of years of wind and wave. The short walk between the two sites follows a well-maintained path through coastal scrub with ocean views throughout.
The park is free to enter and open year-round. Arrive early during school and public holidays as parking is limited and the beach becomes very popular. No pets are permitted anywhere in the national park. Facilities include toilets and a lookout deck above the main car park.
