Headings Cliff Lookout, near the Murtho Forest Reserve about 15 kilometres north-east of Renmark, offers one of the most photographed vantage points on the entire Murray River. Tall golden limestone cliffs drop away to a wide, sweeping bend in the river below, with red gum forest stretching along both banks. The view is particularly striking at sunset when the stone glows orange-red in the fading light.

The lookout is accessed via Paringa-Murtho Road, crossing the Paringa bridge and following sealed and well-maintained gravel roads through the Murtho Forest. Ample parking accommodates campervans, caravans and long vehicles. A fenced walking track leads from the car park to the cliff edge, and a viewing tower platform gives an even higher perspective over the river bend and the floodplain forests beyond.

The site is free to visit and open at any time, making it a favourite stop for houseboaters mooring nearby as well as road travellers on the Riverland loop. Canoes, kayaks and small boats can be launched from the river below, and the cliff face is a well-known location for photography at all times of day. The Murtho Forest itself offers further exploration on foot, with river red gum woodland and native birdlife throughout.

No facilities are available on site, so visitors should bring water.
