Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm
Lavender fields and rustic charm
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Set among rolling hills 10 minutes north of Daylesford, Lavandula is a working lavender farm occupying 1850s stone buildings originally built by Swiss-Italian immigrants who came to the region during the gold rush. Fragrant lavender paddocks, European-style gardens, a stone farmhouse, and a rustic Italian trattoria combine to create a destination that feels unlike anywhere else in Australia.
Visitors pay a small gate fee to wander the gardens, watch lavender being harvested and distilled for oil during summer, and explore the original stone buildings that have stood since the colonial era. Guided farmhouse tours run through the day, and petanque is available on the grounds for a genuinely relaxed afternoon.
The on-site trattoria serves regional and seasonal food with a distinctly Italian character, lavender scones, house-made food, and local produce are mainstays. Guests with restaurant reservations enter free of the gate fee.
The farm is open seven days a week through all seasons, though lavender is at its most spectacular from late December through to early autumn. Snakes may be present in warmer months, so long pants and staying on formed paths are recommended.
