Set at the entrance to the gorge section of Daintree National Park, the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre is owned and operated by the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people, the traditional custodians of this rainforest country. Visitors access the gorge via a shuttle bus that departs regularly, and guided Ngadiku Dreamtime Walks offer an intimate introduction to Indigenous plant knowledge, bush tucker and cultural stories.
The centre itself houses an Indigenous art gallery stocked with works by local artists, a gift shop selling handmade crafts, and a cafe serving meals and refreshments. It is a destination in its own right before visitors even board the shuttle to the gorge swimming hole and walking tracks.
The shuttle runs every 15 minutes through the day, seven days a week, replacing a previous arrangement that allowed private vehicles to drive to the gorge. This change has reduced traffic and improved the experience for both visitors and wildlife along the gorge road.
The guided Ngadiku Walks are separate to the shuttle ticket and must be booked in advance. They run for approximately 90 minutes and are led by Kuku Yalanji guides who share knowledge of the rainforest passed down over generations.
