Ninety Mile Beach stretches for more than 151 kilometres along Victoria's Gippsland coast, making it one of the longest uninterrupted sandy beaches in the world. Backed by rolling dunes that separate the Gippsland Lakes from the swells of Bass Strait, this wild and largely undeveloped coastline is a haven for surf fishing, long beach walks, whale watching in season, and simply escaping the crowds.

The beach runs north-east from near Port Albert to the channel at Lakes Entrance, with access points at towns including Seaspray, Woodside, Golden Beach and Loch Sport. Marine scientists have recorded extraordinarily high biodiversity in the sand, with over 860 species identified in just ten square metres at one sampling site, making it one of the richest sandy-beach ecosystems on the planet.

Swimming is recommended only at the patrolled sections near Lakes Entrance, Woodside and Seaspray during the summer season, as strong rip currents and shore breaks make many sections hazardous for casual swimmers. Surf fishing is excellent along most of the beach, with tailor, salmon, flathead and gummy shark all popular targets for local anglers.

The beach forms the ocean boundary of Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park, which is jointly managed with the Gunaikurnai Traditional Owners. Dogs are permitted in specific areas on a lead, and free camping is available at several foreshore sites within the coastal park.
