The Ord River cruise is one of Australia's longest continuous daily river journeys, covering 55 km between the Diversion Dam near Kununurra and the Ord Top Dam at Lake Argyle. Gliding through ancient Kimberley gorges and wetlands, passengers spot freshwater and saltwater crocodiles, agile wallabies, brolgas, and dozens of bird species in a single afternoon. It is widely regarded as one of the finest wildlife cruises in northern Australia.

Local operators have run the full-length Ord River cruise for more than 30 years, with air-conditioned coaches collecting guests from Kununurra accommodation. The flagship sunset tour departs around midday and returns in the early evening, with the final stretch back downriver timed to coincide with a Kimberley sunset. Morning and afternoon tea are served on the riverbank during the journey.

The cruise operates April to October, aligning with the dry season when river levels and wildlife activity are ideal. Shorter combo options pair the river journey with a scenic flight or a visit to the Bungle Bungles. Booking ahead is strongly recommended during peak season as tours fill quickly.
