Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre
Geology and culture interpreted
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Sitting at the heart of Nambung National Park, the Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre explains how the limestone columns formed and what the landscape means to the Yued people, the Traditional Owners. Displays, soundscapes, videos, and artefacts bring the science and cultural heritage to life, making it a worthwhile stop before or after the desert drive.
The centre's interpretive galleries cover coastal geology, indigenous history, and the remarkable process by which wind and rain sculpted the Pinnacles over thousands of years. A retail gallery sells locally made gifts and books. The adjacent Pinnacles View Lookout provides a sweeping panorama across the limestone field.
Entry to the visitor centre is included with standard Nambung National Park vehicle entry. Staff can advise on conditions, walking trails, and the best times to visit the desert drive. The building has accessible toilets and parking.
The centre closes on Christmas Day and operates daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. It is the only staffed facility inside the park and serves as the practical starting point for first-time visitors to the area.
