Housed in the Wyman Street studio-home of the late Kevin Pro Hart, one of Australia's most celebrated and commercially successful artists, this gallery preserves a remarkable personal collection spanning the full arc of his career. Hart's vivid, energetic paintings of outback life, miners, insects and Australian landscapes made him a household name from the 1960s onwards.

Pro Hart was born in Broken Hill in 1928 and spent his working life as a miner before his art brought him national and international recognition. The gallery displays original oils, watercolours, etchings and bronzes alongside photographs, memorabilia and the personal objects that filled his working life, giving visitors an intimate sense of the man behind the brushwork.

The collection includes large-scale oils depicting the sunburnt hills and characters of far western New South Wales alongside Hart's famous insect series and his playful Pop-influenced works. Limited-edition prints and books are available in the gallery shop, and knowledgeable staff are on hand to provide background on specific works.

With a modest admission price and a compact, unhurried atmosphere, the gallery rewards a slow visit. It is located a short walk from the centre of Broken Hill and fits naturally into a morning exploring the city's rich cultural heritage.
