Questacon is Australia's national science centre, sitting on the southern shore of Lake Burley Griffin in Parkes. With more than 200 interactive exhibits spread across eight themed galleries, the centre invites visitors of all ages to experience phenomena ranging from simulated earthquakes and lightning strikes to a free-fall slide. It is one of Canberra's most popular family destinations.

Each gallery takes visitors through a different domain of science and technology, from physics and engineering to biology and space exploration. The exhibits are entirely hands-on, designed to spark curiosity and encourage experimentation rather than passive observation. Staff presenters run live science demonstrations throughout the day.

Admission is ticketed and sessions run regularly from 9:00 am, with bookings strongly recommended during school holidays and weekends. Children under four years of age enter free of charge.

Questacon also hosts travelling exhibitions, school programs, and outreach activities across Australia. Its distinctive circular building is a recognised landmark in the Parliamentary Triangle.
