Sea Lion Charters Jurien Bay
Swim with wild sea lions
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Sea Lion Charters has been operating out of Jurien Bay Boat Harbour for more than 25 years, taking small groups by boat to a sea lion colony in the Jurien Bay Marine Park. Guests snorkel alongside wild Australian Sea Lions, a species listed as endangered, in their natural habitat, with interactions lasting up to 45 minutes depending on how long the animals remain curious.
Tours depart the boat harbour in the morning and again later in the morning, returning by early afternoon. All snorkelling equipment, masks, snorkels, fins, and wetsuits, is supplied, along with buoyancy vests, light snacks, hot beverages, and access to a hot shower at the harbour on return.
The operator employs senior first-aid-qualified guides and maintains a strong environmental focus, briefing guests on responsible behaviour around the animals before entering the water. The company is transparent that wild interactions cannot be guaranteed, as the sea lions choose whether to engage.
Dolphins and seabirds are commonly sighted during the transit to and from the colony, adding to the experience even on quieter days. Tours run daily year-round. Bookings are essential and can be made through the operator website.
