Tahune Adventures AirWalk
Treetop walk above the Huon
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Perched 30 metres above the forest floor and cantilevering out to 50 metres above the Huon River, the Tahune AirWalk is one of Tasmania's most memorable nature experiences. The 619-metre elevated walkway threads through towering swamp gums and myrtle beech, ending at a platform with sweeping views to the confluence of the Huon and Picton rivers and the peaks of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
The walk takes around 45 minutes return at a gentle pace, though most visitors linger far longer, watching for black cockatoos, breathing in the cool forest air, and photographing the river ribboning below. The cantilever section at the far end is the highlight: a platform that puts nothing but air between you and the water 50 metres down.
Beyond the AirWalk, Tahune Adventures offers hang gliding, twin-rivers rafting, and several ground-level trails through old-growth forest. A licensed cafe at the visitor centre serves local Tasmanian food, Huon Valley ciders, and cool-climate wines. The site operates daily and requires no pre-booking for the AirWalk, though online tickets attract a discount.
