Kings Canyon Rim Walk

Beginning at the Kings Canyon car park off Luritja Road, the walk starts with a steep but short climb, the famous 'Heart Attack Hill', before opening onto the canyon rim. From here the trail is mostly flat, passing weathered sandstone formations carved by millennia of wind and water erosion. Walkers complete the loop in a clockwise direction only and can expect the full circuit to take three to four hours at a comfortable pace.

Halfway along the rim the trail descends into the sheltered Garden of Eden, a lush rockhole fringed by cycads and rare ferns that thrive in the cool, shaded microclimate, a striking contrast to the surrounding desert. Swimming in the waterhole is prohibited to protect the ecosystem. The walk then continues along the canyon's north wall before looping back to the car park, with interpretive signage along the route explaining the geology and the cultural significance of the land to the Luritja people.

A NT Parks Visitor Pass is required for entry. Day passes are $10 per adult and $25 per family. The walk is graded 4 (moderate to difficult) and is recommended only for those who are fit and wearing sturdy footwear. Facilities at the car park include toilets, drinking water, and picnic areas.
